We held our first Annual General Meeting for three years at Claines Lane on Tuesday 23rd November. A big thank you to everyone who came – there were more than 40 Trust members present including Club Chairman Steve Goode and First Team Manager Tim Harris. Two people had even travelled up from London for the meeting.
Trust Chair Dave Wood highlighted what has been achieved over that three year period, most significantly bringing Worcester City FC back to Worcester and achieving fan ownership, as the Trust is now the club majority shareholder. The more difficult task now is fundraising and ensuring our club is financially sustainable. Dave paid tribute to those fans that we have lost since the start of the Covid pandemic and also highlighted the huge amount of work done by Luke Cox, who has now stood down as a Board member and club director due to work commitments.
The main business of the evening was to elect a new Trust Board. There were 10 candidates for 8 positions, and following speeches by everyone standing and then a ballot, the following were elected:
Simon Copson, Rob Crean, Bosko Medakovic, Julian Pugh, Dan Roberts, Marcus Sparrow, Richard Widdowson and Dave Wood.
Sadly Mike Davis and Ken Johnson just missed out. Both have done and continue to do a great deal for the Trust and the Club over many years most of which goes completely unseen by the vast majority of people involved in the club and we are extremely grateful to them and. It was moved from the floor that the new Board should look to co-opt both Mike and Ken at the earliest opportunity.
Three years’ worth of accounts were also presented and approved at the meeting.
Steve Goode and Tim Harris also spoke, and Tim made a point of saying how much he recognised and appreciates the passion for the club shown by our supporters.
Finally, Club Director Nick Jones gave a presentation the new WCFC Family and Friends Discount Card Scheme, which you’ll be hearing much more about shortly.
It really was good to be able to bring fans together again. It really does feel that we are on the way back up again.
