Following on from WCCC’s recent support to Worcester City FC by providing venues for our landmark meetings that passed community ownership and our End of Season Presentation Evening on 27th April, they have given the Football Club 6 Membership Passes for the upcoming cricket season. As part of the arrangement, the Football Club is reciprocating by giving the Cricket Club 6 season tickets for next season.
In a bid to add further value to being a Supporters’ Trust Member, along with soon being an equal owner of the football club, the Cricket Club Membership Passes will be made available exclusively to the Trust Members on a first come first served basis. If the demand is high, we will use a lottery system to ensure they are equally and fairly shared around.
Football Club Chairman Steve Goode said ‘the support offered by Worcestershire County Cricket Club has been phenomenal, it really matters to us that such a distinguished sporting institution that for a long time has been a significant feature of the bedrock of this county’s culture wants to help and support us on our journey. It’ll go down in our history that the votes for community ownership took place at New Road, they’re a part of our story now. We’re also very happy that they wanted some season tickets from us too, for the lengths they have gone to by helping they will always be warmly welcomed at a City match.’
Club Director and Trust Board Member Luke Cox added ‘Steve spoke to me about offering the crickets passes exclusively to the members of the Trust and I immediately agreed with him. He told me about how similar arrangements had taken place many years ago but the tickets were never shared past the Football Club boardroom. With the trajectory we have now, it’s emblematic of our democratic and equal culture that they should be shared amongst the Trust Members. After all, they are soon to be the new owners! We hope this will add even more of an incentive for people to join the Trust too.’
The passes can be used for County Championship and Twenty20 matches.
Both Worcester City FC and the WCFC Supporters’ Trust would like to sincerely thank Worcestershire County Cricket Club for this kind gesture, and we look forward to cheering them on throughout the upcoming cricket season.
