Worcester City Football Club and Supporters’ Trust Joint Statement
Following a review of the appeal decision report, the Trust and Club are pleased to have gained planning permission for a community sports facility at Perdiswell.
It was encouraging to see the Planning Inspector allowed the appeal and granted planning permission recognising the significant public benefits stating ‘the proposal would provide considerable community and recreational benefits’ and ‘would not unacceptably compromise the quality and character of the Green Space when considered as a whole’.
The vision for this development is to benefit the whole of Worcester far beyond just football. The on-site facilities will promote health and well-being whilst providing a sporting hub for many local community groups.
The Football Club and The Supporters’ Trust are working closely together in unity to progress towards a position where Worcester City FC are back in the City as an integral pillar of the community contributing socially, culturally and economically.
The Club and Trust look forward to further engagement with the Local Authority to take the next step. It is hoped that political differences can be left aside and for all stakeholders to support the plans for this development to enable and catalyse something that will greatly benefit the City of Worcester.
